End of Life Doula

Planning - Information - Support

An End of Life Doula is a companion and coach who guides people through the many aspects of the end-of-life journey.

My Services

Do you need help organizing your end-of-life plans?

End-of-life planning includes thinking about your wishes and gathering and filling out essential documents. I can provide information on what is needed and how to get started. You’ll finish with a complete ‘Ready to Go’ binder and a plan for keeping it updated.

How do you wish to be remembered?

Legacy projects can include your most precious memories, lessons, and values. Projects are often creative and can be presented through video messages, written stories, scrapbooks, photo albums, personal letters, or artwork. I can help you get started and provide helpful advice and coaching as you work on and finish your project.

Do you have specific wishes for your funeral service or celebration of life?

At a funeral, memorial service, or celebration of life, family and friends come together to honour, remember, and celebrate the person who has died. Plan ahead and share your wishes on location, music, readings, speakers, program, etc. I can help you plan your event to any degree that you want.

Do you want to simplify your possessions?

After years of purchasing and gathering 'stuff', downsizing can be overwhelming. Whether you are moving to a smaller place, getting rid of what you don’t need, or clearing out a home after someone has died, I can help. With direct support and professional tips and tricks, you won't get overwhelmed before you even get started.

Are you avoiding discussing your end-of-life wishes with loved ones?

Discussing your end-of-life plans and wishes with your family and loved ones can be challenging and fraught with emotion. I can help you plan the conversation, or support you by being present and facilitating an in-person meeting.

Would you like to learn more?

Do you belong to a book club, discussion group, or friends’ group who meet regularly? I can customize a workshop for your group on a variety of topics related to my work. This is a great way to learn together in a comfortable environment, get your questions answered, and keep the conversation going!

About me

I am a trained End of Life Doula and have been supporting clients in this capacity for many years. Like many who do this type of work, I felt called to it early in life and spent time seeking further education and helping friends and family with end-of-life plans. I retired early from my career as an educator to be able to dedicate myself fully to this work.

My goal is to guide people through life’s transitions, including end-of-life, in a gentle, thoughtful, and practical manner. This work is not easy, but it is extremely rewarding and I am grateful to be able to share my abilities in this important and meaningful way.

Pricing

It is difficult to tell you exactly how much these services cost because everybody has unique needs and work habits. Some people want to receive only the necessary information so they can do the work themselves; others want personal guidance at every step of the way.

My fee is between $50 and $80 per hour. The exact rate charged will depend on the type of services you request, the number of in-person meetings we have, and any extra research that is needed. In addition to the hourly rate, there may be extra expenses including mileage – but all costs will be outlined and agreed to beforehand.

The best way to start is to set up a free 30-minute phone consultation. We will discuss your situation and explore the services that I offer. This is a completely confidential and no-pressure conversation, meant to give you the opportunity to see if my work fits with your needs. If you decide to go ahead, I will provide you an outline of next steps, options, and prices – all customized for you.
